About me

My name is Chris Straessle, I am a freelance Art Director and Production Designer working in Film and TV.

I grew up in London, studying at UCL Bartlett School of Architecture (BSc) and subsequently at the Royal College of Art (MA) before working at ARUP Associates. Seeking a new experience, I turned to my childhood fascination with film and set design inspired by the dramatic sets of Sir Ken Adams. Working with a multitude of talented designers and directors has given me a huge breadth of experiences, and a recognition and appreciation for how good design supports and enhances storytelling. Travelling is part of the role and I’ve been fortunate enough to work abroad including Malta, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

I enjoy exploring designs through both digital and non-digital mediums, often moving fluidly between the board and the computer in order to achieve the best results. I’ve had experience draughting in both Art and Set Dec departments, which has been invaluable in developing my ability to design elements at all scales and proportions.

I am a member of the British Film Designer’s Guild and currently working on a Paramount Picture series produced by George Clooney.
